The Guatemalan Red Rump is a New World terrestrial tarantula from Guatemala. The currently accepted scientific name is Tliltocatl sabulosus; older hobby material may use the spelling T. sabulosum.
Behavior and Temperament: Generally docile but can be skittish. If disturbed it may flee or flick urticating hairs.
Habitat and Environment Needs: Provide a terrestrial enclosure with good ventilation, a secure hide, a water dish and enough substrate for light digging. Keep a modest moisture gradient rather than an overly wet setup.
Feeding: Feed appropriately sized crickets, roaches and similar feeder insects.
Additional Information: This is a slow-growing, long-lived New World species with urticating hairs.
