The Brazilian Giant Blonde (Nhandu tripepii) is a large, striking New World tarantula from Brazil. Its long, pale golden to pinkish hairs give it a distinctive fluffy appearance. This terrestrial species may burrow when young and can become a bold, food-responsive display tarantula as it grows.
Habitat and Environment Needs: Provide a terrestrial enclosure with a low fall height, deep firm substrate, a secure hide, fresh water and good ventilation. Keep one area of the substrate lightly moist, while avoiding stagnant or waterlogged conditions. A practical temperature range is approximately 23–27°C.
Feeding: Offer appropriately sized feeder insects such as crickets or roaches. Remove uneaten live prey, especially when the tarantula is preparing to moult.
Additional Information: Medium growth rate. Skittish and capable of flicking urticating hairs; not beginner friendly and not suitable for handling.
