A massive, fast-growing terrestrial tarantula from Ecuador, P. sp. Machala is famous for its shimmering purple hues, especially in freshly molted specimens. This isn’t your mellow pet rock — it’s bold, sometimes defensive, and absolutely mesmerizing.

Scientific Name: Pamphobeteus sp. “Machala”
Origin: Ecuador (Machala region)

Lifespan:
Temperament: Defensive, bold, and fast — not for handling
Juveniles show a red/black pattern with a “Christmas tree” on the abdomen
Adult females develop deep purples on the carapace and legs
Males show brighter violet and metallic pink hues post-molt
